Hi Elaine,
Thanks for your message. I took this picture with a Canon 7D and a 24-70 F2.8L lens. The noise levels in the camera are great... And the lighting conditions were too!

It's really interesting to see some of the photographs people take for their assignments.  This one is great.  I like how it visually flows from foreground-left to background-right.  The vertical bars add another set of interesting lines.  You can even see the detail all the way down to the dust.

There do appear to be a couple of spots that might be a little blown out, but I think it doesn't detract from the composition.
